Prof. Andrew Carr

Prof. Andrew Carr

The LLJ management team is pleased to announce the LLJ EEAB has been appointed. It is through the EEAB that the project will communicate with leading clinicians (and end users who are independent to the project and who will be in a position to guide the work undertaken and the progress made towards clinical goals).

We are particularly delighted that Professor Andrew Carr, Nuffield Professor of Orthopaedics and Head of the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences at the University of Oxford has agreed to act as chair.

Professor Carr’s research interests are to develop and evaluate surgical technologies including joint replacement, arthroscopy, minimally invasive surgery and tissue engineering. He leads a world class research group investigating cellular and molecular mechanisms of soft tissue ageing and failure. Prof. Carr is a fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences. He is a recipient of the Robert Jones Gold medal of the British Orthopaedic Association and a Hunterian Professorship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He also has a long standing interest in the relationship of Art and Literature to medicine and is a consultant to the Oxford English Dictionary and a Curator of the University of Oxford, Bodleian Libraries.
