LifeLongJoints at the European standards agency (CEN)

LifeLongJoints partners have been at CEN, the European standards agency, in Brussels this week to discuss two CEN Workshop Agreements based on wear particle isolation and the biological impact of those wear particles from total joint replacement. (see previous post)

Prof. Joanne Tipper of Leeds University chaired the workshops, tirelessly assisted by Jacqui Burman from BSI, acting as secretariat for the CWAs.
Stakeholders from industry, research, regulatory bodies and standards agencies commented on the drafts and took part in the workshop to refine the CWAs, which are voluntary but could form the basis of a new European standard. They enable the methodologies developed by LifeLongJoints for isolating wear particles and evaluating their biological impact to be shared and utilised widely thus meeting a key project objective.
